INTEGRATIVE MASSAGE AND MANUAL THERAPY
After consultation, Christine will integrate the following techniques
for a session designed specifically for you:
Soft Tissue Mobilization (STM)
Light to deep pressure, STM helps break up those tough areas of muscle tension where scar tissue and other tissues have built up and caused restricted movement or pain. Using specialized massage therapy techniques that include myofascial release, deep tissue, Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, and gentle stretching techniques, we can help reduce pain, relax, and restore proper range of motion.
Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
With you as an active participant, this technique utilizes the muscle’s own energy through gentle isometric contractions to help lengthen muscles that have been shortened over time to slowly increase your range of motion in joints that do not move well.
This approach addresses connective tissue affecting tight, painful muscle tissues and resolving the sources of your pain through therapeutic techniques including but not limited to slow, deep, stretching movements, or constant applied pressure with movement.
A treatment specific to the muscles the individual athlete uses in their sport.
Handheld cups are used to produce a vacuum to pull tissue away from the body to reduce tone, lift away restrictive connective tissue, and increase localized circulation.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
Instruments are utilized to help detect and treat fascial restrictions and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration, which may have developed because of surgery, immobilization, repetitive use, or other mechanisms. Adhesions within the soft tissue, are broken down allowing functional restoration to occur.
If you are working in conjunction with one of our physical therapists, your session may also be supplemented with exercises to address musculoskeletal strength and imbalances.
